Fresno shopping takes on diversity with options from malls to Chinatown, west of downtown bordering Fresno Street. Fashion Fair, the area’s largest indoor mall, features Gottschalks, Macy’s, JCPenney and more than 100 smaller retailers. Fig Garden Village, Fresno’s outdoor shopping experience at Palm and Shaw avenues, showcases fine fashion, gift, and specialty stores along with some of the Valley’s best eateries. Fulton Street Mall, downtown’s six-block historic pedestrian area, is renowned for artwork, fountains, and shaded seating. Downtown’s Kingsburg Swedish Village, with flags from the old country proudly waving, features more than 30 shops and restaurants. The indoor Manchester Center, anchored by Gottschalks, Sears, and Long Drugs, showcases 50 specialty retailers, a large movie theater, and a carousel. Old Town in nearby Clovis offers a blend of yesteryear with shops for antiques, collectibles, and one-of-a-kinds. Sierra Vista Mall, Clovis’ major indoor mall anchored by Gottschalks, Mervyn’s, Sears, and Target, has more than 70 stores. In downtown Reedley, brick sidewalks and historic buildings are enhanced by a Mennonite Quilting Center and international gift shop, plus other specialty shops and restaurants. River Park, the region’s newest retail center with the largest, 21-screen movie theater, has 23 stores and 16 eateries from Borders Books & Music and Cost Plus to Macaroni Grill and Dai Bai Dang. Tower District, Fresno’s eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, theaters and nightclubs along Olive Avenue west of Blackstone, is anchored by the historic Tower Theater, showcasing live music/drama productions.
